Mysteries of THE TORCH -
"Only the Torch is found by itself ..." [Klach Pischey Chochmah 55 (138 Openings of Wisdom)]
My original poem, THE TORCH, written over a decade ago, some time following my initiation into the Mysteries:
when facts tell lies and confusion reigns
when knowledge and ignorance with futility dance
when hope is dying and faith is failing
when pain is endless and pleasure empty
when will lies heavy like stone and clarity is obscured
when wisdom reeks and reason flees
when the heart staggers broken
with shattered strength and love drowns lost in the abyss
when darkness reverberates blindly
and eternity is filled with hell
when life is crushing and all is torn, when hiding cannot conceal
and wretching waters burn the naked dust
when the pause is pregnant like a rock of hate against us
"The timeless Mystery (which includes the dark stillness of Fate and the power of motion) is just that - and it acts as an Otherworldly, perpetual 'cause' to what we experience as 'this world' or 'temporality,' or 'measurable cause and effect.' The Otherworld, the dark void of the Underworld, doesn't begin or end, it exists every moment, acting as the perpetual 'cause' upholding every manifest thing ... There is a 'child' born of the Dark Mystery of Fate and motion - and this child is the world itself, or manifestation; it is indestructible life; it is all of us, and everything. This 'child' is the Horn Child of the Craft, the child of the Mystery night, Iakkos, or the Mabon of Britain. This is the child of Truth and Beauty." [Robin Artisson, The Witching Way of the Hollow Hill]
SHE walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies,
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meets in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellow'd to that tender light
Which Heaven to gaudy day denies.
[Lord Byron, She Walks in Beauty Like the Night]
"You experience yourself again, but not a self you ever guessed or knew was 'you.' ... A person who has gone through this experience is changed forever; they have become (as our northern Ancestors said) a Wyrd-worker. They have become a Witch, a Pagan mystic whose awakening was not possible without the older worldview of wonder and Mystery." [Robin Artisson, The Witching Way of the Hollow Hill]
