The Midsummer Solstice (also known as Litha [Pagan], Gŵyl Ganol yr Haf [Welsh Witchcraft], Alban Heruin, [Caledonii or the Druids] and Alban Hefin [Anglo-Saxon Tradition]) occurs (depending on where you are on the planet) in the Northern hemisphere June 19-23 and in the Southern hemisphere December 19-23 when the Sun moves into Cancer (a feminine water sign). All life on our blue planet Earth depends upon the presence of water, and as the also life-giving Sun moves into Cancer at the Midsummer Solstice, the intimate association of this Sabbat with a cosmic celebration of Life is revealed.
