BBC Reports Frequent Burning of Paraffin Candles Linked to Increased Cancer Risk

BBC reports that frequent burning of paraffin candles over time linked to cancer:

To investigate candle emissions, the researchers burned a range of candles in the laboratory and collected the mixture of substances they gave off.

Paraffin-based candles produced "clear sharp peaks" for many chemicals, mainly because burning candles does not produce high enough temperatures to combust hazardous molecules such as toluene and benzene.

The scientists suggested switching to candles made from beeswax or soy, which did not release significant levels of the chemicals.

Researcher Amid Hamidi said people who frequently used candles, for instance to help them relax in the bath or provide the right ambience for dinner, [or frequency in a sacred space or temple room - added by me] were most at risk.

He told the American Chemical Society in Washington: "An occasional paraffin candle and its emissions will not likely affect you.

"But lighting many paraffin candles every day for years or lighting them frequently in an un-ventilated bathroom around a tub, for example, may cause problems."

This incredible HEKATE Liminal Rites Dark Goddess Queen of the Crossorads talisman pendant contains genuine Wolfsbane (Aconitum napellus), Black Nightshade (Solanum nigrum), 3 whole Saffron stamens, Blackthorn bark, Garlic, Oak bark, black Onyx gemstone chips, a sterling silver Key charm, a Bronze bead and a black faceted drop bead - all elements sacred to Hekate.

This kind of dishonest business practice which blatantly violates Etsy policy hurts every single honest business owner on Etsy and compromises the integrity of the entire Etsy venue.

My individually witch-crafted ritual candles are to the Craft as shmurah matzah is to Jewish Tradition. While batch-made candles may be okay for use in common circumstances as is regular kosher matzah, individually crafted candles carry the magical power of carefully guarded focused magical intent. For Passover rituals, magically observant Jews only use shmurah matzah. For Craft rituals, this magically observant witch only uses "shmurah candles" where the magical power imbued into each individual candle is focused and guarded during each single one's unique creation.

Shmurah means "guarding" with extra precautions and focused conscious observation to ensure that the object being "guarded" is crafted to the exacting specifications required to fulfill the precise ritual obligation for which it is being made. In consequence to the way this process is conducted, a shmurah matzah or candle becomes imbued with the laser-like focused magical intent of its maker and contains maximum magical potency.
